—Seven Sizes and Flexible Design Let TP-9000s Cover All the Bases— Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division is adding to its well-received TP-9000 line of timpani at Winter NAMM 2004. Built with extensive input from professional players, the TP-9000 Series are designed to offer the collegiate and professional timpanist the ultimate in tone and flexibility.

"The new addition to the 9000 Series timpani truly offers any option that a college or professional timpanist may need," says Troy Wollwage, Manager, Yamaha Percussion. "We spent a lot of time talking with our artists about their percussive needs. The importance of having a variety of options could not be overlooked."
Three different locking pedal mechanisms are available—the previously offered Dresden and Berlin, and now Berlin Ratchet—enabling the timpani to adapt to any playing style. Ball-bearing pedal mechanisms ensure secure tuning without a preset locking position, while standard features such as adjustable foot stabilizers (which allow leveling or slight tilting of the timpani) and adjustable kick plates offer maximum player comfort.
The timpani series feature the clear, resonant sound of Yamaha's hand-hammered, pure copper bowl which is available in two styles: a standard parabolic shape or a European-style chambered bowl. The TP-9000's big sound is augmented by the heavy-duty frames, minimizing vibration transfer to maximize resonance and tone.

Available in seven sizes, 20", 23", 24", 26", 27", 29" and 32", a heavy-duty 4 mm drawn steel rim offers additional support and rigid tuning throughout the instrument's range.
Other features include fine tuning adjustment, Teflon spray on the bearing edge to ensure whisper-quiet tuning, easy tension-rod alignment, rattle-free wheels with a sturdy locking system, a variety of heads for tonal diversity, and convenience accessories including easy movement dollies and ATA-approved hard cases.
