Every kit and configuration in the Stage Custom Series features a 17-in. bass drum with PowerStroke3-type heads, Yamaha's distinctive YESS suspension mounting system on all toms, and a triple tom holder. The kits also feature Yamaha's newly-introduced 700 Series hardware, which includes straight and boom cymbal stands, a hi-hat stand, snare stand and bass drum pedal. All drum kits and configurations in the line ship in only two boxes, and include a set-up video hosted by drumming powerhouse Dave Weckl.
"Just like their predecessors, the new Stage Custom models raise the bar and set new standards for affordable drum sets," explains Jerry Andreas, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums, Pro Audio & Combo Division.
Constructed of 8-ply shells—Mahogany with an outer Birch ply—the Stage Custom Standard (SCS) features a distinctive steel snare drum—plus separate lug casings—allowing the drums to resonate freely and deliver an "open" sound. The SCS set is available in four great-looking matte finishes: Matte Cranberry Red, Matte Marina Green, Matte Natural Wood and Matte Raven Black.

"No other drum company offers as many professional features with Yamaha's quality at such a great price," adds David Jewell, Drum product manager. "The Stage Custom Standard and Advantage will be the choice of drummers now and for years to come."

I'm considering buying a Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage kit. I'm very strict with the sound of toms. I like toms that sound rich, full, and soft. When I say soft, I mean does the drum have a nice sound without an overtone, or does it have a sharp and irritating sound. |
