Rock Drum Rhythms: Double Bar Tabs Exercise

After some basic variations it's time to move back to our standard rock drum rhythm from one of the previous lessons. Take a look at the next drum tabs. This is an example of one of the best rock drum rhythms used in many pop, rock, heavy rock, punk rock, hard rock and alternative music. The hihat is just plain simple, the snare drum is not changed. But the bass drum rhythm is changed by adding an extra hit, but only in one bar. As you can see the simple rhythm is now actually a 2 bar pattern!
